Silent disco festival stages: the party runs on after dark
A silent disco festival stage keeps the music going after the main stages switch off, with thousands of headphones and three channels under one tent.

South African festivals run on two clocks. The line-up wants the music to play late; the licence conditions, the campsite and the neighbouring farms want quiet after a certain hour. Silent disco is the festival world's favourite answer: when the main stages stop, the headphone stage starts and the sound stays inside the tent. It also fixes sound bleed between stages that sit too close together, because every listener chooses exactly what to hear. From a farm festival in the Western Cape to a summer weekend on the KwaZulu-Natal coast, the logic is the same.
We know formats where scale is everything. As technical partner of Rockin'1000 since 2015, we know what it takes to give a thousand musicians playing together the same reference. For festivals we supply headphones in large quantities, high-power transmitters, spare kits and, through rental with assistance, technicians who set up and support the system throughout. You choose the DJs and the programme; we make sure every headphone sounds as it should. Because the kit travels from our European warehouses, festival organisers in South Africa should lock in their dates early.
Why festivals choose a silent disco stage
Music after the cut-off
When the amplified stages have to stop, the headphone stage can carry on late into the night.
No sound bleed
Stages placed close together stop competing with each other, because the sound is in the headphones.
Three line-ups, one tent
Three DJs battle on three channels and the crowd votes with the button.
Made for crowds
Thousands of headphones on one signal, with no delay between listeners.
A signature moment
The glowing colours become one of the most photographed scenes of the weekend.
Technicians on request
Rental with assistance adds installation and on-site support for the whole event.
Building a silent disco festival stage
Define the stage and capacity
Share the area, capacity, schedule and number of channels. A consultant proposes headphones, transmitters and staffing, along with shipping and customs timelines.
Plan the headphone flow
Distribution and return points, a deposit or wristband system, charging between days: we plan the logistics with you.
Run it every night
DJs plug into the transmitters, and our technicians can stay on site to keep everything running smoothly.
Sizing headphones for a festival
Quantities depend on peak attendance at the silent stage and on how many days the event runs. A tent for 800 people at peak usually needs 800–1,000 headphones in rotation, plus charging time between days.
- Transmitters: the TX-500 is our most powerful transmitter, built for festivals and large areas; a battery-powered TX-330 is a useful backup if the generator or the grid lets you down.
- Channels: three for DJ battles; one can be kept for special sets or talks.
- Indicative prices: up to 500 headphones €1,700–2,000, up to 1,000 €2,900–4,000 for a single event, plus shipping and customs; multi-day festivals are quoted with the tailor-made formula.

Tips for a festival silent disco
- Wristband link: tying headphones to wristbands or IDs keeps return rates high.
- Charging plan: headphones last up to 10 hours; set up a dedicated charging area with a schedule between days.
- Shelter the kit: protect transmitters and distribution points from dust, heat and afternoon storms.
- Promote the battle: announce each colour's DJs in the festival app and on social media.
- Staff the exits: return points at every exit avoid a crush at closing time.
A silent disco stage also changes how a festival feels after dark. Instead of a hard stop when the main stages close, people drift into the tent, pick a colour and keep dancing, while the campsite gets the quiet it needs before sunrise. For organisers it is a way to extend the programme without extending the noise. Many festivals use the same kit by day for silent yoga, listening sessions or talks in shared areas. For city-centre formats, see silent disco public events.

Questions about: festivals
How many headphones can you supply for a festival?
Up to 5,000 headphones are available for South Africa, so we can scale from a small tent to large areas. Availability depends on dates, and December fills up early.
Do you provide technicians on site?
Yes, on request, through rental with assistance. Technicians install the system and support the event throughout.
Can headphones be charged during a multi-day festival?
Yes. The kit includes chargers, and we help you plan a charging area and a schedule between days. A full charge takes about 4 hours.
Is there any delay between headphones?
No. Radio transmission is instantaneous, so every listener hears the music at the same moment.
Do you also book the DJs?
No. We rent the equipment and provide technical support; artists and programming are up to the festival.
