How we process the personal information you give us through silent-disco.co.za, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What data we process
The data you send us with the contact, quote and deposit refund forms (name, email, phone, company, event details and, for the deposit, the bank details for the transfer), the data you give us by WhatsApp, email or phone, and the technical browsing data needed for the site to work (IP address, server logs).
Why we use them and legal basis
- Answering your requests and preparing quotes: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (art. 6.1.b GDPR).
- Managing the hire or sale, shipping, the deposit and its refund: performance of the contract and compliance with legal obligations, including tax obligations (art. 6.1.b and 6.1.c GDPR).
- Keeping the site secure and preventing abuse: legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f GDPR).
We do not make automated decisions or build profiles with your data, and we do not send you marketing without your consent.
Where your data are processed
The controller is established in Italy and your data are processed in the European Union, which applies the GDPR. If you contact us from South Africa, your data are therefore transferred to the European Union and handled there for the purposes described here.
How long we keep them
Enquiries and quotes that do not become a contract: as long as needed to handle them and no more than two years. Customer data: for the duration of the contract and then for the periods required by law.
Recipients
We do not share your data with third parties except where required by law. The following may access it as processors: providers of services we need (web hosting in the European Union, email, shipping, customs and logistics) and the Silentsystem group companies that handle your event and ship the equipment from our European warehouses. If you use WhatsApp, the conversation is also subject to WhatsApp's terms.
Your rights
You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability, and withdraw any consent given, by writing to [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) or, if you are in South Africa, with the Information Regulator.
Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or alteration, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the whole site.
Changes
We may update this policy to reflect legal or service changes. The version in force is always the one published on this page. Last update: October 2026.
